Brunch Time
Last month I had the opportunity to cook as a personal chef for one of my friends' birthday celebrations!
One of my greatest passions is being able to provide my personal chef services for people that love to entertain but don’t always want to do the work that goes behind it! That’s where I come in to help you plan the menu and create the ambiance. My friend Brittany was doing a Mexican theme for her birthday and wanted to carry that theme into the Sunday brunch menu.
Well for me that’s not a problem I love anything Mexican related. In my cookbook The Art of Entertaining the first section is on a Mexican Happy Hour. The birthday girl requested her favorite, the slow cooked brisket Macha, as an absolute must for her party!
The rest of the brunch menu was as follows:
Brisket Tostadas
Elotes (I will say that I had not made Elotes before but it was a hit!)
Chiles Rellenos Quiche
Rum Soaked Grilled Pineapple
Jalapeno potato w/ alio
Pico De Gallo
Homemade Queso
For events like this one thing I always bring is my stovetop grill! It’s the best tool ever and always comes in handy since it’s easily portable and gives food those perfect grill marks. The best surprise of all though was the rave reviews from the guests on the desert. I chose to do a rum soaked grilled pineapple that was served with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of rum caramel sauce. The recipe is super easy to make and from the reaction alone I just know I will be making this one again! Besides the food, I also provided the tablescape. We went with a blue and green theme and spiced it up with some beautiful pink floral arrangements for a pop of color. I got some very fun and colorful plates as well as some solid blue plates to put on the white charger plates and topped them with cream colored napkins. The birthday girls favorite part of the tablescape were the glasses that we provided which have a rainbow portion at the bottom of the glass!
Brunch is the best way to entertain friends and family. You can also, as I mention in my cookbook, have them pitch in and bring their favorite sweet or savor dishes. At the end of the day it’s all about having fun, celebrating the times we gather together, and giving thanks for all our blessings.
